Ray Powell

Ray Powell, 86, of Lexington, went home to be with the Lord, on Wednesday March 27, 2024. Ray was born in Rockcastle County on August 3, 1937, to the late Mary and Alex Powell. He worked and retired from the University of Kentucky and was a member of Zion Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He was loved by his wife, Sarah Powell of 68 years. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was devoted to serving the Lord. Survived by his wife, Sarah Powell; daughter Brenda (Sonny) Crawford, daughter Patty Bruner; and son Mike (Lisa) Powell. Ray is also survived by four grandchildren, Michael Powell, Alise Powell, Ellen Earlywine, and Alex Powell, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held Saturday March 30, 2024, at Kerr Brothers-Main Street (Lexington). Burial followed in the Powell Cemetery in Rockcastle County.
