Marvin Gene McWorter

Marvin Gene McWhorter, 81, of Berea, passed away on March 31, 2024, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

He was born on December 14, 1942, to Newland and Irene McWhorter. Marvin was a lifelong resident of Madison County. He was of the Baptist Faith and a proud veteran of the US Army. He retired from the Blue Grass Army Depot and after retirement he worked at Walmart. Throughout his life he was a skilled brick mason who took great pride in his work. He enjoyed working with several charities that included the American Heart Association, Relay for Life, and Special Olympics.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald, and Bobby McWhorter, and one son Marvin Thomas McWhorter.

Marvin is survived by his wife Diana Clark McWhorter four daughters Trena (Albert) Payne, Susan (Richard) Baker, Crystal Erwin, Amy McWhorter, one son Patrick “Scotty” McWhorter, one brother, William “Pug” McWhorter (Georgia), and one sister Bertha Rampe of California. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Chelsea Payne, Ethan (Megan) Payne, Monica McWhorter, Mindy McWhorter, Cody (Nicky) Baker, Hannah Baker, Emily Erwin, Ashley Erwin Howard (Jordan), and four great grandchildren, Noven, Phoenix, Autumn, and Amon.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday April 3, 2024, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Miller officiated. Burial followed in the Berea, Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cody Baker, Ethan Payne, Albert Payne, Patrick McWhorter, and Ken Christiansen. Honorary pallbearers were William “Pug” McWhorter, and Armel Davidson.
