Neeley to succeed Gilliam as Madison County Schools Superintendent
October 28, 2024
The Madison County Board of Education announced Monday the hiring of Randy Neeley as the next superintendent of schools.
Neeley has served in a variety of roles in Madison County Schools since 1994, including teaching, coaching, assistant middle school principal, head elementary school principal, Director of Pupil Personnel, Deputy Superintendent, and two stints as interim superintendent. Neeley will take over leadership of the district following the retirement of Dr. David Gilliam.
“Dr. Gilliam has been more than just my supervisor the last 5 years. He fulfills all the traits of a phenomenal leader, but he is also a true Christian man who stays true to his core values through good times and also times of struggle,” Neeley said. “I am very honored and humbled to follow him in this leadership role. I am also honored and humbled to lead this district after spending the majority of my life here – as an alum and an employee. I am just so glad to be here. Jan. 1, we’ll be ready to go!”
Neeley was accompanied at today’s announcement by his wife, Michelle, and their two daughters, Mattie Jo and Mollie. His 4-year contract will begin January 1, 2025.
