Madison County Sheriff's Department warns of scam

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office received information on Saturday December 28th, 2024 of a PHONE SCAM circulating in the community.
The caller states they are “Deputy Davis” and then transfer the recipient of the call to a “Sgt. Collins” of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. The caller is attempting to get parties to meet at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, claiming that parties have warrants, in order to exchange and gather personal information. Be aware of phone scammers posing as law enforcement officers who demand immediate payment for fake fines, missed court dates, or outstanding warrants.
Call Madison County Dispatch if you suspect, or have been victim of, a phone scam.. The sheriff's office advises residents to never provide personal information or send money to someone claiming to be law enforcement over the phone.
