Postal service to close on Jan. 9 to honor President Carter
January 02, 2025
The U.S. Postal Service will suspend mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on Thursday, Jan. 9, to honor the death of former President Jimmy Carter.
All postal facilities are included in the National Day of Observance.
In an announcement Thursday, USPS said it would continue to accept and process volume dropped by commercial mailers at mail processing facilities. Limited package delivery service on Jan. 9 will “ensure the organization does not experience any impacts to its package delivery operations that may negatively affect customers or business partners,” USPS said in a press release.
Regular operations will resume on Friday, Jan. 10.
There will also be no mail delivery on Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday.
A healthy Madison County requires great community news.
