Kathleen Wagers Tyree

Kathleen Wagers Tyree, a beacon of generosity and kindness, passed away peacefully at her home on Jan. 5, 2025, in Richmond at the age of 84. Born on Nov. 24, 1940, in Clay County, Kathleen was a cherished daughter to the late Shirley and Mandy Baker Wagers.
Kathleen's journey through life was marked by her devotion to her family and her unwavering faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Although preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Begley; son-in-law, Audie Michael Chasteen; her nine siblings; stepson, Talmadge Tyree; and grandson, Brien Begley, her legacy continues through her surviving children, Brenda Chasteen, Rodney (Donna) Tyree, and Robin (Fred) Neal. Her grandchildren, Anthony Shane Begley, Jessica Chasteen, Della (Tyler) Robbins, Scott Kidwell, and Shonda (William) Cope, along with several great-grandchildren, will forever cherish her memory. Kathleen also leaves behind her stepchildren, Mary Wagers and Jean "Bootsy" (Ronnie) Willis and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always proud to call Stevie (Missy) Wagers her first grandson, brought joy to her heart. She also leaves behind her precious dog, Princess.
Professionally, Kathleen retired from Parker Seal manufacturing and dedicated many years as an in-home caregiver. Her work ethic and compassion were evident in every task she undertook. She was a devoted member of New Hope Holiness Church.
Kathleen's interests reflected her nurturing spirit. She found joy in reading, hunting for treasures in consignment stores, and caring for animals. Her love for people was unmatched, and she often extended a helping hand to those in need.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Luke Akers and Bro. Mark Taylor officiating. The burial will follow in Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tyler, Scott, Jay, Dillon, Morgan, Spencer, Stormy, and Will.
