Betty Poynter Kemper

Betty Poynter Kemper, 73, of Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, February 1, 2025 at St. Joseph Main Hospital in Lexington after a long and courageous battle with congestive heart failure. She was a Rockcastle County native born April 15, 1951, daughter of the late Warren V. Poynter, Sr. and the late Nora Dees Poynter, retired respiratory therapist who worked at several hospitals in Central Kentucky and member of Fairview Baptist Church.
She was totally family oriented, and enjoyed taking care of her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty also enjoyed reading, sewing and working jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include her loving husband John H. Kemper, Jr.; children Jean Howard (Donovan), James D. Wilson (Nicole), John B. Kemper, Jack Kemper (Bobbie); siblings JoAnn Croucher, Frances Gabbard (Robert), Janice Ingram (Jeff), Doug Poynter, Kevin Poynter (Debbie); grandchildren Coty, Jody, Ashley, Jamie, Juleigha, Marylou, Delaney, Trevor, Austin, Kaleb; great-grandchildren Noah, Abigail, Nora, John Mark, Alex, Jaycee, Raylen, Odin, Arya, Ariella, Peyton, plus 2 great-grandchildren due in June, Baby Kemper and Isla; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and church family. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, children Carolin Wilson, Robert Wilson; siblings Warren Poynter, Jr., Wendell Poynter, Tom Poynter; grandson John Halen; great-granddaughter Evie; brother-in-law J. B. Croucher.

Memorial Service Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Reppert Funeral Home with Bro. Dillon Walls officiating. Acceptance of Friends 12:00 noon until service time.
