Etta Faye Ray

Etta Faye Ray, of Dixie Plaza in Richmond, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at the age of 82 years.
She was born in Madison County Jan. 29, 1943, the daughter of the late Wilbert and Lula May Agee. Etta was the widow of Sam Wilson Ray, who passed this life on June 30, 2001. Etta worked for a short time in the cafeteria at Foley Middle School and she and her husband operated the Ray & Dalton Flea Market in Berea. Most of her time was spent working as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family – a task she dearly loved. She enjoyed gospel singing and attending church. Etta especially enjoyed the simple things of life, such as sitting on her front porch and visiting with neighbors or taking a ride through the countryside and enjoying nature.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Ray and David Allen Ray (Genia), both of Richmond; a daughter, Debbie VanWinkle (Marvin), of Richmond; six grandchildren, Bradley VanWinkle, Samantha Ray, David Ray, Jr, April Ray and Sam Ray, Jr.; 11 Great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Garnett Agee, Louise Johnson, Florine King, Mason Agee, Thelma Johns and Paul Agee; grandchildren, Brian VanWinkle, Misty Michelle Ray and Regina Gail Ray.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Greg King and Sister Vickie Young officiating. Burial will follow in Madison Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Doug Agee, Jimmy Ogle, Gobel Cundiff, Bradley Van Winkle, Charles Brock, Larry Schmidt, Sam Ray, Jr. and Austin Kemper.
