Wilma Peyton Rhodus

Wilma Peyton Rhodus, 79, died on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, surrounded by her family and close friends.
A lifelong resident of Paint Lick, Wilma was born on May 23, 1945, to the late Tom and Lizzie Smith Rhodus. She was a 1963 graduate of Madison Central High School, where she played on one of the first girls’ basketball teams. She retired from IBM/Lexmark after a loyal tenure with the company.
Wilma was a member of The Kirksville Baptist Church for over 79 years, where she was a very active member of her congregation. She had volunteered with the disaster relief programs, traveling across the country to help those affected by natural disasters.
Wilma loved to travel and enjoy entertaining her many nieces and nephews with the stories from her journeys, always accompanied by dozens of photos. She had an extensive group of friends spanning the country, and she spent time with them as often as she could.
Survivors include her brother: Johnny Rhodus (Anna); her sisters: Jacqueline Goucher and Mabel Lane (Lewis); several cousins including a special cousin: Colleen Moore; and her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Eugene Rhodus and her brother-in-law: Bobby Goucher.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, Feb. 17, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Browning, Rev. Dennis Hisle and Rev. Johnny Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Madison Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday.
Pallbearers are Johnny Rhodus, Lewis Lane, Tommy Goucher, Delbert Campbell, John Friend and Marvin York.
Honorary Pallbearers are Colleen Moore, Billy Joe and Paulette Osborne, Avonda Noe, Patty Browning, Beverly Goff, Joyce Reams and Jim and Lisa Panwell as well as her nieces and nephews.
