Earl Griffin

February 14, 2025

Earl Griffin, a cherished family man and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2025, at the age of 87 in Berea, Kentucky. Born on April 1, 1937, in Estill County.

Earl was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Irene Griffin, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. He was a guiding force in the lives of his two daughters, Scotty (Ronnie) Abney and Tena (Jeff) Gabbard. His legacy continues through his granddaughter, Shelby (Mark) Brooks and their children, Lilly, Griffin, and the soon-to-arrive Miller; and his granddaughter, Sydni (Rick) Childers and their children, Hiram and Raleigh.

Before retiring, Earl had a fulfilling career at Phillips Westinghouse. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his faith as a long-standing member of Liberty Avenue Baptist Church.

Though Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Bessie Pittman Griffin, his siblings, Clifton Griffin and Ruth Griffin, and his great-granddaughter, Lena Brooks, his spirit is carried on by his family and the many nieces and nephews who looked up to him.
