Dr. Charles F. Rice

Dr. Charles F. Rice, 71, of Mount Sterling, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 17, 2025, while vacationing in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born in Richmond, Kentucky, on March 28, 1953, to the late Paul H. Rice and Leta Skinner Rice.
Dr. Rice was a dentist in Mount Sterling for 35 years. He highly regarded his patients and co-workers. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed hiking, biking, snow skiing, boating, kayaking, pickle balling and travelling with his wife, daughter, friends and family. When he retired, he fulfilled his dream of travelling across the country, camping in a motor home. He led a very blessed life. He also embraced his Christian life and served faithfully in the church for 40 plus years. He truly had a servant’s heart.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vicki C. Rice; his daughter Rebecca Rice Lawless and her husband Luke; his sister Pamela Rice Rand (Sonny); his brother Carl Hughes Rice (Denise); his nephews and nieces Stephan Rand (Leisel), Bryan Rand (Alisha), Justin Rand (Jennifer), Taryn Rand Compton (Benjamin), Samuel Rice and Hannah Rice; his great nephews and nieces Connor Rand, Dillon Rand, Zack Rand, Grayson Rand, Haylee Rand, Grace Rand, Braydon Rand, Collin Rand, Caleb Compton and Aaron Compton.
Also surviving are members of his wife Vicki’s family: Brother-in-law: Greg Colliver (Lorna); nephews: Jon Colliver (Shana), Clinton Colliver (Ashley), Austin Colliver (Mercedes) and Todd Colliver Wright; great-nieces and nephews: Kaylee, Mallory, Cal, Ashton, Zeke and Lucy.
In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law: Calvin B. and Mildred Spencer Colliver; brother-in-law: Calvin Colliver Jr. and Lucas and Ethan Dell Compton.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Gateway Christian Church, 801 Winchester Road, in Mt. Sterling. Bill Kilgore and Seth Lawson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery, located in Richmond, KY.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the service begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Rice, Gordon Rice, Terry Rice, Jerry Rice, Danny Turner, John Frank Billings, David Billings, Dr. Russell Skinner, Jim Back, Ed Back, Van Back, Dr. Rankin Skinner, Donny Skinner, Joey Barnes, Billy Calvert, Tommy Highley, Jimmy Robinson, John Peck, Stan Marks, Charlie Hawkins, Roger Barnes and Randy Loyd.
