Aaron Buford Mayne

Aaron Buford Mayne, age 94, of Berea, passed away peacefully on March 4. Born on April 12, 1930, in Rockhold.
Before his retirement, Aaron proudly served his country for 22 years in the United States Army. Following his military career, he continued to serve his community as an ordained minister, touching the lives of many with his unwavering spiritual guidance and compassion for others. Aaron's education and dedication to personal growth were evident in his academic achievements, having graduated from Berea College and furthered his studies at the Southern Baptist Seminary.
Aaron was a revered member of Silver Creek Baptist Church, where he devotedly practiced his faith and enjoyed the fellowship of his church family. His love for religion was only matched by the adoration he held for his beloved wife, Glenda Sue King Mayne, and their beautiful blended family.
Aaron’s journey through life's seasons was shared with his children, Jeff Allen Mayne and Zandra Mayne Davis; his stepsons, Russ (Hope) Hoover and Tim (Kim) Hoover; and his brother Dave (Sharyn) Mayne. His legacy will continue through his three grandchildren, Dustin Philip (Sam Wagers) Skidmore, Ronald Cedric Davis, and Samantha Jade Mayne; his four great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Jewelianna Skidmore, Finley Joshua Aaron Wagers, Elliott Archer Thompson, and Bernadette Louise Thompson; and his four step-grandchildren, Gwen, Quinton, Nate, and Cassadee. Aaron's memory will also be cherished by his many nieces and nephews.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence John and Lucy Morgan Mayne; his first wife, Carol Joan Horton Mayne; his brother, James Ralph Mayne; and sister, Janice Mayne Dunbar.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 15, at Silver Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Ashcraft officiating and Nate Becknell assisting. Burial will follow with military honors in Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Condolences may be left for the family at www.lakesfuneralhome.com
