Rodney Duane Chasteen

March 24, 2025

Rodney Duane Chasteen, known affectionately as Rodzilla to his friends and customers, left this world suddenly, on March 21. Born on Nov. 18, 1967, in the small town of Berea. Rodney’s larger-than-life personality was evident from the start.
Rodney was a proud graduate of Berea Community High School’s Class of 1986, where he was known for his quick wit and ability to make anyone smile. He carried that charisma into his career as the self-employed business owner of Rod’s Window Tint. His catchphrase, “Tint that thang,” was as memorable as his boisterous laugh.
In his personal life, Rodney was a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, Tonya Kendrick Chasteen. Together, they shared countless memories and a love that was as transparent and steadfast as the finest window film. He was a beloved son to his mother, Lynetta Chasteen, and a cherished brother to Robin (Kenny) Harold, and sister-in-law, Tamara (Jeff) Barnes. Rodney’s stepdaughter, Taylor Bartruff, and his nieces Kendra Harold and Tabitha (Lee) Chaney, and great nephews and niece, Alex, Abby, and Slone, will miss his big smile.
Rodney’s Baptist faith was as important to him as his love for bass fishing, star gazing, and songwriting. His little furbaby, Spencer, will miss their shared adventures and the warmth of his lap.
While Rodney has joined his father, Hubert Chasteen, Jr., his nephew, Kenneth Aaron Harold, his grandparents, and his beloved little buddy Tucker in the great beyond, his spirit will continue to shine as brightly as a freshly tinted windshield on a sunny day. Rodney and Tonya are incredibly thankful for the support they have received from their customers and community.
As the Chasteen family navigates this difficult time, any support to help cover expenses will be greatly appreciated. Donations may be made at www.lakesfuneralhome.com
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Peachy officiating. Burial will follow in the Scaffold Cane Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5-9 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hall, Logan Chasteen, Zack Day, Keith Long, Rodney Mullins, and Travis Gilliam. Honorary bearers will be Kenny Harold and Jeff Barnes.
