Wanda Ann Hurley

Wanda Hurley,82, wife of Leonard Hurley, formerly of Phelps, died peacefully at her home in Berea on April 1. Wanda was born in Michigan to the late Otis Lee and Pearl Marie Wolford Dick. Wanda was a retired educator for Pike County Schools. She taught third grade at Freeburn Elementary School, taught third and fourth grade at Phelps Elementary School, and was the principal at Phelps Elementary School before retirement. Wanda holds her undergraduate degree from Pikeville College and her Master's degree from Morehead University. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter: Amanda Mapes.
Wanda is survived by her husband Leonard Hurley, her children: Leonard Kevin Hurley, Maria Maynard (Keith Scarberry), and Camilla (Shawn) Brinegar, her siblings: Terry Dykstra, Sharon Dotson, and Danny Ray Dick, her grandchildren: Robert Michael Mapes Jr. (Mary Young), Lucas Brinegar, Kyah Brinegar, Melayna (Mathew) Lester, and Dylan Scarberry, her great-grandchildren: Annabella Smith, Hunter Mapes, Gunner Mapes, Abriana Young, Raylan Mapes, River Mapes, Storm Mapes, Tucker, Hayes, and Ellison Lester.
A graveside Service will be held Saturday, April 5, at 1 p.m. at the Johnson Memorial Park Cemetery in Pikeville. Lakes Funeral Home in Berea is handling arrangements.
