Retired Berea Fire Department Battalion Chief Doug Sandlin was remembered at Tuesday’s Berea City Council meeting, honored during the mayor’s comments segment.

A 23-year veteran of the Berea Fire Department, as well as a volunteer firefighter, Sandlin passed away on March 30 at the age of 67.

Berea Mayor Bruce Fraley noted Sandlin’s passing, stating:

“On behalf of the entire Berea city government family, I want to express our most sincere condolences to City Administrator Shawn Sandlin, and the entire Sandlin family, on the passing of Doug Sandlin, Shawn’s dad. As many of you know, Doug Sandlin was a retired battalion chief with many years of service to the city. He was a quality guy, a gentleman, and he’ll be greatly missed by his family and all of us,” Fraley said.
