Eugene Turpin, 95, passed away Saturday, April 5, at his residence in Richmond, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on February 6, 1930, to the late Charles Henry and Nora Bell Hatton Turpin. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War era, retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot, was a carpenter, farmer, and painter. Eugene was a member of New Beginning Fellowship, Irvine. He enjoyed spending time at home with family and friends, spending time in nature, taking quiet walks on the farm, and spending time with his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Charolette Helen Turpin; sons: Douglas Turpin (Teressa), Jimmy Turpin, Tommy Turpin (Maryanne); daughters: Regina Lynch (Doug), Barbara Fritz, Sherry Baker (Darrell), Myrtle Walton (Roger); brothers: James Turpin (Betty), Forrest Turpin; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Turpin; brother, Charles Turpin; sisters: Katherine Kaylor, Eva Jo Shamrock, Christine Gentry; daughter-in-law Patty Turpin; son-in-law Michael Fritz; sisters-in-law: Faye Turpin and Brenda Turpin; brothers-in-law: Charlie Kaylor, Don Shamrock, and W.D. Gentry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Best officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Josh Turpin, Matthew Turpin, Scotty Fritz, Daniel Baker, Caleb Baker, and Austin Lynch.
Honorary pallbearers are Austin King, Justin Turpin, Stuart Walton, and Josh Cox.
