Mary Kathryn Garrett Peters

Mary Kathryn Garrett Peters, 93, of Loyall, departed this life and peacefully entered her heavenly rest from her home on Thursday, April 10, 2025. She was born on January 3, 1932 in Verda, Harlan County. She was married to her husband, the Reverend G. Clement Peters, on June 19, 1949. They worked faithfully together in the Cleveland Assembly Church of God for 39 years, believing strongly in the Pentecostal Holiness faith. They pastored 10 churches in the state of Kentucky. In her last years, she returned to Loyall and attended the Loyall Church of God, which she deeply loved, and was a Sunday School Teacher, Ladies Ministries leader and many other offices of the church.
She was saved at the age of 12. She was the first to be baptized in the new baptistery, and served as pastor’s wife to all at the Loyall Church of God during her lifetime. She was a faithful and unwavering Christian for 81 years.
Mary Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend G. Clement Peters; her parents, Ebbie Garrett and Gladys Hall Garrett; one son, Larry Wayne Peters; two brothers, Olin Ray Garrett and Doyle Wayne Garrett.
Left to mourn her passing, are two sons, Clement Ray Peters and wife, Brenda, Stinnett; and Ebbie Kyle Peters, Loyall; two granddaughters, Leandra Lavender and husband, Gary, Old Fort, NC; and Leslie Clark and husband, Robert, Berea; 11 great-grandchildren, Natalea, Mallory, Garrett, Raylie and Linden Clark, Ella, Gary III, Mattie, Katie, Judy and Abbie Lavender; and one sister-in-law, Brenda Garrett, Harlan. Also surviving are three special nieces, Tammy Leopard, Sandra Pink and Jean Wright; and a special sister-friend, Eunice Barton. She was loved by all who knew her.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Loyall Church of God.
Funeral services for Sister Peters will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Loyall Church of God with Reverend Colby French, Reverend Billy Owens and Reverend Jason Collins officiating.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
