Timothy Patrick McCarty
April 17, 2025

Mr. Timothy Patrick McCarty, 66, of Richmond, known to his family and friends as Tim, passed away on Monday, April 14, at his home.
He was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on Nov. 24, 1958, the son of the late John & Regina “Mae” Meehan McCarty. Tim moved to Kentucky in 1987, but still remained loyal to his Iowa sports teams, as well as the Cubs & Packers. He was a master floor covering installer and loved to tinker and work on projects. Tim enjoyed playing & watching softball, and most Saturday afternoons, you could find him watching any sport that could be found on TV. He also liked going golfing with his brothers, even though he would claim he wasn’t any good. Tim was also an avid animal lover – his dog Lily, as well as any other pet that came around, might find themselves being treated to chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream.
Most of all, Tim loved his family – his daughters and grandchildren were his source of joy, and he treasured the moments he spent with them. As his granddaughter Cortlyn said, even when they were sad, he was always good at cheering them up. “Pop Pop” and Cortlyn were inseparable – whether it was helping him paint his “projects”, tinkering around the house, playing around the yard, or whatever else they could find to get into, they were a team and formed a bond of special moments and memories.
Survivors include: his daughters, Cortney McCarty & Alexandra Gabbard (Devin); his grandchildren, Cortlyn Ashcraft & Ross Gabbard; his brothers, Michael McCarty (Cathy), Patrick McCarty (Denise), Kevin McCarty (Nancy), Kerry McCarty (Connie), and Jay McCarty (Bonita); his former wife, Marla Ross McCarty; brother-in-law, Mark Ross; a special friend and sport watching buddy, Chuck Curry; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
A memorial service to share stories and memories will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 21, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond.
The family will receive friends starting at 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Mark Ross, Chuck Curry & Daryn Wells.
