Giving Day at EKU set for Wednesday

April 21, 2025

Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) will be hosting its sixth annual Giving Day on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. The theme for this year is “One Day, One Eastern,” highlighting the community impact that takes place on Giving Day. EKU’s annual Giving Day provides an opportunity for alumni, friends and students to support EKU in a one-day fundraising challenge.

“On Giving Day, we unite as One Eastern to celebrate the transformative power of the Eastern experience,” said EKU President David McFaddin. “I’m continually inspired by the way our community rallies together—giving generously, championing student success and demonstrating the true strength of collective support. I invite you to be part of this meaningful day in any way you can.”

EKU’s goal is 2,425 donors before midnight, representing the 2024-25 academic year and all of the lives changed at EKU.

Events to celebrate Giving Day kickoff on April 22 with late night bingo for students at the I Love EKU Party, then on April 23, a Giving Day Celebration Station at Powell Plaza and Trivia Night for EKU employees and friends. The Giving Day website will list donors in real time on a leaderboard and track progress toward the goal, with challenge gifts being unlocked at key milestones.

“Every donor, whether they give $5 or $5,000, counts toward this goal,” said Krista Rhodus, EKU senior director of annual giving and stewardship. “Every dollar given combines with other gifts to make a difference in the lives of students. Whether you give to the Eastern Fund, the Colonel’s Cupboard, the Colonel Club or any other area of campus, you are helping to create important opportunities for students.”

In 2024, EKU surpassed its goal of 2,324 donors and raised over $720,000. This was the most funds raised during a single Giving Day since the annual tradition began in 2019.

Gifts to EKU, of any size, on April 23 help provide game-changing opportunities for students. To learn more about Giving Day and how to contribute, visit go.eku.edu/givingday.
