A convicted killer that was captured in 1995 near Waco, is scheduled to be put to death by lethal injection on May 15 at the Florida State Prison.
Glen Rogers, who was convicted of murder in Florida and California and also is a murder suspect in Ohio and Mississippi, was convicted in the murder of Mark Peters. Rogers was convicted of murdering Peters, a 71-year-old electrician tied to a chair in a Kentucky cabin owned by Rogers in 1994. He also was tied to a murder in Florida in 1995 and a murder in California.
Known as the “Cross Country Killer,” Rogers was captured on Kentucky 52 on Nov. 11, 1995 traveling at 100 miles per hour in a Ford Festiva. At least six police cruisers were in pursuit. Rogers ran through a rod block, threw a can of beer at a state police detective and the chase ended when his vehicle ran into a ditch near the Bluegrass Army Depot.
At the time of his arrest, Rogers, now 62, said he had killed 70 people, which he later said was a joke.
