Helen Faye Parker Powell
April 23, 2025

Helen Faye Parker Powell departed this earth on April 21, comforted and surrounded by her family. Though we will mourn her earthly presence, we rejoice knowing she has gone on to receive her heavenly reward.
To have known her was a treasure in itself. She was creative and loved to learn, was resilient, strong, full of wisdom, kindness, and grace. She had an unwavering level of love and compassion for people and for life. Full of balance, she has been a pillar and, without doubt, a true benchmark on this earth in the hearts of those who knew her. She had mastered keeping the mind of Christ, and her faith in Jesus was unmatched. She has been a true friend to many. She was always giving the best advice while being a comfort and safe haven for innumerable people, from financially to spiritually throughout her life. Some of her last conversations were those expressing forgiveness, searching her heart, words of enormous love for her family, and for everyone. She poured from a cup into others that seemed to have an endless bottom. Her strength was truly drawn from the Lord. She told of the things the Lord was showing her and telling her, and she was excited for what was to come.
Helen shared her life in Berea with her husband, Chester E. Powell, for 55 years. Sharing life, growing together, learning together, and adventuring together. Whether it be a trip around the world, planting their garden, taking drives, or working and building a lifetime of businesses together. She absolutely adored her family, and her time with them was what she wanted most in life. She is leaving behind her children: Scotty Elwood Powell (Berea), Tassa Lashelle (Brian Cromer) (Berea), Candace Paige Powell (Berea), and her grandchildren, who brought her a wealth of happiness. Holden Parker Powell, Hunnie Corinne Powell, Jacob Ryan (Josie) Robinson, Dolton Elwood Robinson, Maximus O’neil Cromer, Dillan Anthony Cromer, and Jennifer Danielle Cromer. Her siblings, Betty (the late Bubba) Adams, Douglas “Tubby” (Bethel Lee) Parker, and Debbie (Roy) Quinley. Also, a host of very special extended family and loved ones.
Preceding her in death; her beloved parents, Enos and Fairy Parker. Her sisters, Bonnie (Earl) Baker, Darlene VanWinkle, and brother Ralph Parker.
Helen had a special knack for balancing seriousness with humor. Her laughter was contagious and would fill the room. There are not enough words to describe the ways she will be missed. She has given us the best life has had to offer, leaving a legacy of love, a lifetime of lessons.
Funeral services will be 1 pm, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Crestview Holy Sanctuary with Dale Lainhart and Brian Cromer officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm at the church. Condolences may be left for the family at www.lakesfuneralhome.com
