May 02, 2025

Reba Kinsland Fothergill, 96, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on the evening of April 29, 2025, at Berea Health & Rehab.

Born on July 25, 1928, in Haywood County, North Carolina, Reba was the daughter of the late Jessie and Herman Kinsland. She was the devoted widow of Joseph Fothergill, with whom she shared many years of love and memories.

Reba was a proud mother to her three children: sons Mike (Libby) Fothergill of Louisville and Sam (Belinda) Fothergill of Berea, and daughter Jan (Rick) Arnold of Lexington. Her family was her greatest joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love in her ten grandchildren: April (Karl) Nemeth, Rebecca (Lovell) Martin, Jenny Fothergill, Joey (Ashley) Fothergill, Amanda (Robby) Pearson, Elise Fothergill, Casey (Aaron) Bee, Michael Fothergill, Noah Arnold, and Emily Fothergill, as well as ten great-grandchildren who brought her endless happiness.

A proud graduate of Berea College, Reba earned her BS in Home Economics in 1952. Her deep commitment to her community was evident through her active involvement in the Homemakers Club, where she found joy in connecting with others and sharing her knowledge.

For 67 years, Reba was a devoted member of Berea Baptist Church and the Pearl Sunday School, where her vibrant spirit shone through her participation in business meetings, her work in the church library, and her contributions to meal preparations with her ladies' groups.

Reba was known for her sharp wit, her love of reading, and her enjoyment of jig saw puzzles. Sundays were special to her, as she eagerly tackled the weekly scramble puzzle in the newspaper.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Berea Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Slemp officiating. Private burial services will follow at a later date at Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. at the church on Sunday. Condolences may be left for the family at www.lakesfuneralhome.com

Pallbearers will be Mike and Michael Fothergill, Rick and Noah Arnold, Sam and Joey Fothergill.
