Ethel Jeanette Grant, 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 4.
Ethel was born on October 17, 1947, in Berea and was the daughter of Malcolm and Myrtle Keith Murphy, both of whom preceded her in death. She married her husband of 61 years, Leslie Grant, on February 2, 1964. Ethel retired from Gibson Greetings after many years of service. In her leisure time, Ethel enjoyed playing bingo and visiting casino boats. When her grandchildren were younger, she loved to travel with them.
Survivors include: her husband, Leslie Grant; a son, Leslie Grant (Melissa); a daughter, Tammy Grant; four grandchildren, Michael Taylor, Hannah Grant, Sarah Grant, and Leslie Owens; three great-grandchildren, Heather Taylor, Bristol Taylor, and Taylor Parker; one brother, Jason Webster (Linda); one sister, Patsy Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: one son, Michael Wayne Grant; one great-grandchild, Elijah Reed Taylor; two brothers, Billy Gear and Bobby Murphy; two sisters, Nannie Lou Tussey and Frances Kindred; and her beloved dogs, Spanky and Basser.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Cecil Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Taylor, Leslie Owens, Jarod Cox, Taylor Parker, Mason Noe, and Roger Rose, Jr.
