Margaret Beatrice Harris

May 14, 2025

Margaret Beatrice Harris, 80, entered into Eternal Joy April 28, 2025. She was born to the late Esther B. Harris and John C. Harris of Brassfield, Dec. 13th, 1944.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the United Baptist Church of Goodloe’s Chapel. She enjoyed being involved in the New Liberty Baptist Sunday School Convention and the Mt. Pleasant District Association and served as Youth Supervisor for many years.
She started out working as a housekeeper, which led her to her passion of caring for others as a home health aide for Mepco Home Health Agency, where she retired after 28 years of service.
After retirement, she dove into being a full-time grandmother, taking her role very seriously as she spoiled each one of them to the highest level. In her later years, Margaret would often brag about how she’d traveled all over the United States and other countries from the comfort of her bed due to sporting events from her grandson and was deeply involved with “coaching up” her granddaughter's sports.
She is survived by Esther R. Harris (Daughter), three Grandchildren: Damien Harris (Nyasha), Zaedyn Harris, Jahzara Harris, one Great Grandson, Dame Harris II, Anna Fife (Sister), Nieces and Nephews: Nathaniel Hocker Jr., Michelle Hocker, John Shearer, Melissa Harris Warford, James Harris Jr. (Evelyn), Derek Haynes and a host of great nieces/nephews and cousins.
Margaret is preceded in death by Esther Ballew Harris (Mother), John Catherine Harris (Father), and three brothers: Nathaniel Hocker (Buck), James Harris (Jimmy), and John C. Harris (BooBoo).
Momma, I will love you until my last breath. Our hearts are sad, but knowing you’re out of bed for the first time in almost 20 years, walking around Heaven with your loved ones is the true Blessing. The woman you were and raised me to be was not in vain. Thank you for your kindness, quiet calm, reassurance, grace, love, and for helping me raise my babies, for if not for you, I’m unsure of where we would be. You were mine and my children’s best friend, and we will carry your love, laughter, and resilience with us for the rest of our days. We will have our angel on our shoulders with God's blessings all around us.
Margaret’s Going Home Celebration will be Monday, May 19, at 12 p.m. and will be held at Goodloe’s Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at Madison County Memorial Gardens, where pallbearers will be Damien Harris, John Shearer, James Harris Jr., Galen Harris, Jaleel Harris, and Victor Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Reggie Camp, Mark Miller, Lance Kavanaugh, and Emmit Igo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret's memory to the Madison County Animal Shelter at https://madisoncountyky.gov/animal/ or 135 W Irvine Street, Richmond, KY 40475.
Friends and family members are encouraged to leave messages of condolence and memories here on Margaret’s tribute page.
