Gilbert L. Taylor III

Gilbert Leonard Taylor III passed away on June 11, 2025, in Richmond, KY. He is predeceased by his mother, Ollie Jean Vernon, and father, Gilbert Leonard Taylor Jr. He leaves behind his siblings: Sharon, Mary, Robert, and David, nieces and nephews, and daughter, Ashley.

Joined the US Army while in college at the University of El Paso and received a B.S. in Business Management as a Distinguished Military Graduate. He was stationed overseas in Germany and was a Field Artillery Officer in the 2-3 Field Artillery Battalion.

He served honorably in the Army from 1976-1982. He received a Meritorious Service Medal for his command, Marksman and Parachutist Badges, and the Army Commemorative Service Award.

After leaving the army, he had a career in construction management and became a building inspector for the city of Richmond, Kentucky. He loved animals and adopted strays in his neighborhood. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.

His wishes were to be cremated. His family will have a private memorial service at Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville at a later date. Condolences may be left for the family at www.lakesfuneralhome.com
