Terry D. McKeehan
June 24, 2025

Terry Dale McKeehan of Berea passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, surrounded by his wife, daughter, and grandchildren.
Terry, known as Poppy to many, was born and raised in Madison County. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Teresa Elliott, for 48 years. Together, they had one daughter and four grandchildren who were the absolute light of his life.
Poppy spent 33 years as a welder for Hyster, and he retired to become a full-time grandfather.
Poppy was an avid Foley Middle and Madison Southern High School sports fan, never missing a track meet, cheer competition, or basketball game.
Poppy could always be found in the stands at center court cheering on his favorite team. In the off season, Poppy spent his time working in the shop on small engines for neighbors and friends and sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee and his dog, Jake.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gladys McKeehan, and two siblings, Gene and Deborah.
Poppy is survived by his loving wife Teresa, one daughter, Kirstie (James), four grandchildren, Chance, Kiley (Sean), Casen (Carlie), and Tucker Nobbel, all of Berea. Terry also leaves behind three brothers, Corkey (Cookie) McKeehan, Johnny McKeehan, and Gerald (Frances) McKeehan, along with many nieces and nephews.
Terry’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 25. The family will be accepting friends from 2- 4 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home.
A healthy Madison County requires great community news.
