Gerald Joseph Nehila

Gerald Joseph Nehila, 77, passed away on June 23 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
Gerald was born on August 30, 1947, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and was the son of Joseph and Sophie Mazur Nehila, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a retired machine operator with Okonite Cable in Richmond and was a faithful member of Linden Street Baptist Church. Gerald enjoyed woodworking, classic cars, and cigars. He was a dog-lover and loved taking care of his lawn.
Survivors include: two sons, Gerald Nehila of Richmond and James (Robin) Nehila of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Amy (Martin Huffer) Nehila of Richmond, Samuel (Jon) Nehila and Nicholas Nehila of New Jersey; one great-grandchild, Benjamin Huffer; and three siblings, Kenneth Nehila, Richard Nehila, and JoAnn Hankins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Ruthann Nehila; a grandson, Kyle A. Nehila; and a brother, Ronald Nehila.
A funeral service for Gerald Nehila will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25,  at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Jerry Nehila, Jimmy Nehila, Martin Huffer, and Jeff Neal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond.
