Juanita (Sherman) Slusher
July 25, 1931 – June 29, 2025
Juanita (Sherman) Slusher, 93, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025. She was born on July 25, 1931, to
the late Gertrude and Clifford Sherman. Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Slusher Sr.; her son-in-law, Lonnie Estep; and
her siblings, Eulene (Sherman) Lyttle, Eugene Sherman, Sybil (Sherman) Kelly, Janrose (Sherman)
Wilson and Carl Sherman.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Patricia (Slusher) Estep; James Slusher Jr. and his wife, Libby
(Smith); Joe Slusher and his wife, Kim (Goode); and Clifford Slusher and his wife, Tracey (Wright). Juanita was a
proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren, great-grandmother to 12, and great-great-grandmother to 2. She was
also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Juanita was a lifelong member of Lynch United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Methodist
Women’s group. She was a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served her community
faithfully through many years of involvement with the Lynch Garden Club and the greater Lynch community.
As the matriarch of the family, she provided steady guidance, unconditional love, and a strong example of
faith and resilience.
Her passions included quilting—where she received numerous awards and accolades for her
craftsmanship—gardening, and avid reading. Juanita’s warmth, generosity, and remarkable talent touched
many lives, and she will be profoundly missed.
She was the glue that held us together, the light that guided our way, and the love that shaped our lives.
A mother’s hug lasts long after she lets go.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Juanita’s embrace—through her love, her
lessons, and her unwavering presence—will remain with us always. Her life was a beautiful testament to
family, strength, and unconditional love, and her memory will forever live on in each of us.
