Elvis "Tinker" Whalen
Elvis Wayne Whalen, Sr., 70, known as “Tinker”, passed away on Thursday evening, July 3, at his home.
He was born in the Clays Ferry Community of Madison County on August 29, 1954. “Tinker” was a retired employee at KI – USA in Berea and had previously worked in construction. He was a skilled handyman and could build just about anything, from decks to furniture, and even knives. “Tinker” knew how to do it or would learn.
Survivors include: his children, Mike Whalen (Glenna) & Elvis Wayne “Wink” Whalen, Jr.; his grandchildren, Joseph Whalen (Amanda), Matthew Whalen (Haley Allen), Christopher Whalen, Kimberly Whalen & Brandon Whalen; 8 great-grandchildren; his brother, Gary Hall; his dog and sidekick, Gus; a best friend who was like a brother, William Goins; as well as other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Mabel Barnes Hall; two brothers, Ford Hall & Doug Hall; and his sister, Wilma “PeeWee” Ratliff.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 - 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Mike Whalen, Matthew Whalen, Joseph Whalen, Brandon Whalen, Johnathan Webb, Billy Stevens, and Anthony Cox.
Gary Pensol will be an Honorary Pallbearer.
