The Berea Dolphins clinched a third-place victory at the Bluegrass Swim Conference held in Versailles on July 14, 2025.
Their overall ranking was based on the combined scores and times of all Berea Dolphin swimmers in their events. There were 13 teams who competed in the conference with a total of 522 swimmers and 64 events.
The Dolphins finished with 1,339.50 points, only 2.5 points less than the Falling Springs HammerHeads from Versailles, who finished with 1, 342 points. The Lone Oak Sharks Swim Team from Nicholasville won with 1,580 points.
“I am beyond ecstatic to announce the Dolphins ranked third place overall, at the Bluegrass Swim Conference,” Board President Jenny Patten said. “The team continues to reach new levels of success, reaching the highest points for Dolphins, under the coaching and guidance of new headcoach Logan Pisula, supported by coaches Sergei Bellucci, Nate Fairchild, and Kristin Ramsay. Our coaching staff is to be commended for a job well-done. Go Dolphins!”
The conference is for swimmers ranging from six (and occasionally those under six) to 18 years old. Races are organized based on age.
Points were awarded to the top 16 swimmers for individual races, ranging from one to 20 points. Team relays were scored from a scale of 12 to 40 points based on the team’s timings. All points were then calculated and ranked in order.
“This year has been challenging due to not being at our pool and details surrounding that event, as well as, limited practices, zero home meets and a 20% decreased roster,” Patten said. “Despite, the numerous obstacles the team faced, we overcame adversity and persevered. The team rose above these challenges and exemplified a positive winning attitude throughout the season.”
