James Lynn Kamuf

July 23, 2025

James Lynn Kamuf, 81, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born in Owensboro on Oct. 22, 1943, to the late Joe and Helen Stengell Kamuf. James was a veteran of the United States Army.
James was a man of strong character, a loyal friend, and a devoted family member. Whether playing pool, sharing a drink, or telling stories, he had a way of making every moment feel special. His love for whiskey and laughter was contagious, and his strong-willed nature made him someone you could always count on. James retired from Alcan Aluminum after 30+ years of service. A master woodworker, James crafted beautiful pieces with care and precision, leaving behind a legacy of his artistry. He had an adventurous soul and often traveled out West to find peace in the wide-open landscapes, always returning with stories of his journeys. At his core, James was a family man who loved deeply and put others first. His loyalty, strength, and hilarious escapades will be missed by all who knew him. He touched so many lives, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin brother Joe Kamuf and his sister Janice Higdon.
Those left to cherish James’ memory include his children, James Lacy Kamuf and Candi Lynn Kamuf; his favorite, and only, granddaughter Kayli (Kevin) Fogle; his great-grandson Louie Fogle; along with his siblings Jackie Murray and Mary Michael (Dale) Adams.
Following James’ cremation, the family will hold a private service to honor his life at a later date.
Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory is honored and privileged to be entrusted with James Lynn Kamuf’s care. Please leave condolence messages for the family of Mr. Kamuf and sign their virtual guestbook at www.haleymcginnis.com.
