Samuel Newton Broadus

Samuel Newton Broadus, 83, passed away Friday January 12, 2024, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. He was born June 29, 1940, in Garrard County to the late William Ampter and Verna McHone Broadus. Sam loved the outdoors, coon hunting with his dogs, fishing, searching for ginseng, mushrooms, and arrowheads. He even enjoyed doing a little trading from time to time. Sam was employed with Southern States for over 43 years as a salesclerk and was confident and skilled at his job. He loved helping and talking with people. Sam was a member of the First Faith Independent Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Katie Spivey Broadus, one son, Jeffery Clay Broadus, two brothers, Conley Broadus, Tom Miller, and one sister, Bessie Ballinger.

Sam is survived by five children, Anthony Scott Broadus and his wife Charlotte of Berea, Samuel Mark Broadus and his wife Thalia of Berea, Lisa Michelle Broadus, Jennifer Knuckles Webb and her husband Randy of Berea, Angela Oliver Boggs and her husband Elmer of Berea, three brothers, Bill Broadus, Don Miller, Bonnie McHone, and three grandchildren, Courtney Powell and her husband Tyler, Kaitlyn Clemons and her husband Gunner, and Austin Broadus and his wife Ally.

Funeral services were held Wednesday January 17, 2024, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home. Bro. Artie Alexander officiated.
