Threat by juvenile toward BCS determined to be false

The Berea Police Department responded to a threat by a juvenile made on social media directed toward students at Berea Community Schools on Wednesday night and investigators and the school resource officers have identified the juvenile who allegedly made the threat.

School administrators and the Berea Police Department determined the threat made by the juvenile was false and students were never in danger.

“The individual involved with the false threat has been identified and appropriate actions have been taken,” Berea CommunitY School Superintendent Dr. Diane Hatchett said. “The safety and security of our students and staff are our top priorities. Had there been any direct threat to the safety of our school community, we would have notified you immediately. I want to reassure you that all safety protocols were strictly adhered to throughout this process.”
