Eagles capture second district title in three years

Madison Southern captured its second 44th District title in three years wityh a 69-58 win over Madison Central Friday night at Baptist Health Arena in Richmond.

The Eagles (22-9) will advance to the 11th Region Tournament and will host a first-round game. Dates and times have yet to be announced. The Indians fell to 10-22 on the season and will play their next contest on the road to open the first round of the region.

Jay Rose poured in 27 points to lead all scorers. Rose completed a double-double with 12 rebounds and played all 32 minutes. Zach Hudson followed Rose with 20 points and Casen Noble rounded out three players in double figures with 10. Braden Hudson scored six, Avery Davidson had four and Mason Davis added two for the Eagles.

Luke Asher led Madison Central with 23 points, Eli Steele followed with 10. Cody Morrison and Cam Steele just missed double figures with nine points each. Ricky Goatley had severn for the Indians.
