Richard H. Bromley

Richard H. Bromley passed away peacefully, in his sleep, July 2, 2024, at the Dominion Senior Living Memory Care Center after years of living with Alzheimer's. He was born July 18, 1938. in Charleston, Illinois, eventually settling with his family in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He was the precious husband of Harriet (Jenny) Bartlett Bromley for 61 years, and a most loving father of daughters Anna Bromley Campbell (Steve), Julia Louise Bromley, and grandfather of Owen and Dexter Campbell. He was also the beloved older brother of Donald Bromley (Bets). He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard J. and Wilma J. Bromley, and his sister, Mary Bromley Kushmir.

Richard was a musician through his whole being. He showed his dedication to music as a composer and performer on flute and piano. His bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees were all in classical composition. A professor of music at Eastern Kentucky University for 30 years, Richard loved interacting with his students. He enjoyed aiding and encouraging students to succeed as much as possible in music and music-related activities. Richard was also a jazz improviser and loved sharing and playing jazz with his students and fellow musicians.

The Bromley family is full of gratitude for all those who have shown much care and love for Richard, which eased his passage through his last years of Alzheimer's disease.

A service of music and memory was held on, Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Union-Church. Richard's ashes will be scattered in the Union memorial garden.
