James Edward Hobbs

James Edward Hobbs, known to friends and family as Eddie, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024, in Richmond, Kentucky. Born on April 14, 1942, in Jackson County.

Eddie was a graduate of McKee High School and worked at South East Coal Company until his retirement. Throughout his life, Eddie loved to travel, which brought him joy and gave him the opportunity to create countless memories with his loved ones. Eddie enjoyed trapshooting and sporting clays. He also enjoyed creating intricate woodcarvings that showcased both his skill and his love for the craft.

Leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter, Eddie is survived by his wife, Irene Middleton Hobbs; his daughter, Kim Witt and her husband, Brian; and his beloved granddaughter, Serena Witt. His life will also be fondly remembered by his brothers, Don Hobbs and his wife Sue, and Danny Hobbs, and several nieces and nephews. Eddie’s passing was preceded by that of his parents, Leonard and Beatrice Gabbard Hobbs, his sister and brother-in-law Imogene and Clyde Carter, and his sister-in-law Judy Hobbs.
