Betty L. Berry

Betty L. Berry, 77, wife of 41 years to Ken Berry passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024, at her home in Berea. She was born June 10th, 1947, in Jackson County, to the late Laffie Powell and Gladys Robinson. Betty retired from American Greetings where she had worked in both production and quality control. She was very dedicated to her grandchildren who lovingly called her “Gandy,” Betty enjoyed daily walks, traveling, and tending to flowers, she also loved to cook. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a devoted daily Bible reader.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul, and Estill Powell, one brother-in-law, Mason Hisel and one nephew, Justin Gabbard.

Betty is survived by her husband, Ken, her son, Jomicah (Miranda) Berry of Winchester, her grandchildren, Connor and Joslyn Berry of Winchester, her siblings, Beatrice (Cledious) Abner of Berea, Reva Hisel of Hisel, Opal (Danny) Adams of McKee, Sue (Alvin) VanWinkle of Paint Lick, Lois Gabbard-Chapman of Richmond, Wanda (Ronnie) Shepherd of Gray Hawk, step brothers, Otis, Ernest, Robert, and Ronald Robinson all of Jackson County, one sister-in-law, Lorraine Powell also of Jackson County. Many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

Visitation for Betty will be 6-8 PM Thursday, July 25th, 2024, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Berea. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday also at the church with Rev. Joey Kays officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery with her nephews serving as pallbearers and special friends serving as honorary pallbearers.
