Each year, Berea Home Village selects two volunteers, one lady and one gentleman, to receive the Volunteer of the Year Award at its annual holiday dinner.
These volunteers, chosen by the organization's Volunteer and Member Committee, exemplify volunteer excellence and unwavering service to the organization's mission to help older Bereans thrive at home.
In 2025, the awards went to Cora Leporin and Chuck Morgan.
Cora Leporin, a retired social worker, has served in several capacities as a Berea Home Village volunteer, including driving, making weekly calls to members, conducting home visits, troubleshooting member needs, and serving on the Volunteer and Member Committee.
Chuck Morgan provides friendly and reliable transportation. He drives members to medical appointments as far as London and Lexington, sometimes transporting members three times a week. Always eager to serve, he keeps his personal schedule flexible to accommodate members' needs.
