Charlene (Combs) Shelton went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 10, 2024, at the age of 80. She was born in Happy, to the late Andrew and Virtue Marie (Pratt) Combs on August 16, 1943.
Charlene had worked at Berea Hospital where she met her future husband William Shelton of 57 years. She was a homemaker and mother to her five children. She also worked at Churchill Weavers for 30 years. She loved family gatherings, quilting, working puzzles, traveling. She also loved her church family and was a member of Liberty Avenue Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her eight siblings Cleda Mae Everidge, Janice Laverne Combs, Annetta Sue Williams, Darliss Lucille Amburgey, Brenda Carlene Combs, Betty Youganda Chasteen, Donald Ray Combs and Arlie Dean Combs. She was also preceded in death by one son Roger David Abrams.
Charlene is survived by her husband William Shelton, her three daughters Vickie (Keith) Wagers of Richmond, Marie (Hippie) Abrams of Deltona Florida, Janice (Toni) Abrams of Irvine, and one son Dewane Shelton of Berea. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services took place at Liberty Avenue Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Pastor Ken Felty and Pastor Randy Calico officiated. Charlene was laid to rest at Berea Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Brandenburg, Derek Brandenburg, Cody Brandenburg, Myles Brandenburg, Eric Bratcher, Nicholas Shelton and Kyle Shelton.
Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
