Donald Lee Schul

Posted

Donald Lee Schul, a cherished father, grandfather, and devoted husband, passed away at the age of 87 in Berea, on December 22, 2024. Born on January 22, 1937, in Middletown, Ohio, Donald was a beacon of strength and joy to all who knew him.

Although he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eileen Taylor Schul, and his parents, Arthur and Melva Hobbs Schul, his legacy continues through his sons, Jason (Valerie) Schul and Justin Schul, as well as three adoring grandsons, Zachary, Colton, and Grant Schul.

Donald's pursuit of knowledge led him to Ohio Miami University, where he expanded his horizons and prepared for a dynamic career. His professional journey was in sales at John Deere. He began his Masonic career with the Masonic Lodge in Middletown, Ohio, and later moved his membership to Paintsville. He was also active in the Olekia Shrine Temple.

Perhaps one of the most endearing aspects of Donald was his affinity for the simple pleasures in life. He and Eileen found great joy in the Square Dance Club, where they were active members. They were equally adept at ballroom dancing.

Donald was the epitome of the word "handy." His talent for woodworking was more than a hobby; it was a form of expression that allowed him to share pieces of himself with others. He took pride in creating beautiful, functional pieces for friends and family, meticulously crafting treasures that would disperse across the country, each a testament to his skill and thoughtfulness.

A celebration of life will be held at the First Church of God, 205 8th Street, Paintsville, KY 41240 on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 1 pm. There will be a dinner to follow the services. Condolences for the family may be left at www.lakesfuneralhome.com

Donations may be made to the First Church of God in lieu of flowers.
