Beloved Glenda Lee Smith, a radiant soul whose love and faith illuminated the lives of all who knew her, was called home to the Lord on the 14th of March 2024, at the age of 58. Born on the 21st of March 1965, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Glenda was a beacon of joy and a testament to the strength of the human spirit. She departed from this earthly realm in Berea, Kentucky, after a valiant battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends.
In the words of the Apostle Paul, "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13). Glenda embodied this scripture, living her life as a vessel of love and a warrior of faith. She was a woman of unshakable belief, and her trust in the Lord was as steadfast as the mountains of her adopted Kentucky home.
Glenda was the cherished daughter of the late Larry Williams and Brenda Hooven, and she grew up alongside her siblings Larry Williams and Dawn Bailey, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. She found her life's partner in Jerry Smith, and together they built a family grounded in the principles of faith, hope, and love. Glenda's heart was most full when surrounded by her children: Jason Hall, Josh Hall, Zachary Smith, and Madison Smith, who will carry forward her legacy of kindness and generosity.
The circle of life continued to shine brightly upon Glenda with the birth of her grandchildren: Tyler Smyth, Kindle Morgan, Kiana Morgan, Daegon Hall, Kyra Miller, Carson Hall, Zadie Hall, Henry Hall, Canon Hall, and Ryleigh Hall. Each of them was a precious gem in her crown of life, reflecting the light of her love and the joy she found in her role as a grandmother.
Before dedicating her life to her family as a stay-at-home mom, Glenda touched the lives of many young souls as a pre-school teacher. Her gentle guidance and nurturing spirit helped shape the futures of countless children, and the impact of her kindness in their lives cannot be overstated. Glenda's involvement in her church community was a testament to her unwavering faith, and she found solace and strength in the fellowship of her brothers and sisters in Christ.
Glenda's passions were as varied as they were heartfelt. She found God's beauty in the simple pleasures of life, such as the quiet reflection of crystals, the thrill of rock hunting, the mystical allure of the moon, the tranquility of her garden, and the warmth of family gatherings. Each interest was an extension of her soul, a way to connect with the world and the Creator she so fervently worshipped.
To describe Glenda is to speak of a loving, faith-filled, and selfless woman. Her actions spoke louder than words, and her selflessness was a beacon that guided others through their darkest times. She gave without expecting anything in return, and her love was a shelter for all who sought comfort and peace.
As we gather to celebrate Glenda's life and her journey to eternal rest, we take solace in knowing that she is now in the presence of our Savior, free from pain and suffering. Her life was a sermon of love, a living example of the grace of God in action. We will miss her deeply, but we rejoice in the knowledge that we will be reunited with her in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Today, we do not say goodbye to Glenda Lee Smith; instead, we say, "Until we meet again." Her spirit lives on through her family, her friends, and the countless lives she touched. May her memory be a blessing to us all, and may we strive to embody the virtues she held dear—love, faith, and selflessness. Rest in peace, dear Glenda, until the glorious day when we shall all be together once more.
