Posted

Glenmore Wayne Broaddus, Moran Mill Road in Richmond, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Wayne loved life and growing up in the farming community of Garrard County he developed a lifelong passion for the land. He often commented that there was such peace in the country life and was thankful for the childhood he had there.

As a young man he made the decision to accept Christ while attending Bethel Chrisitan Church with his family.

Wayne served as President of the People’s Bank of Paint Lick for many years and was the owner of Wayne Broaddus Insurance Agency.

Retirement was an adventure. Whether fishing in the Everglades, golfing with his buddies or enjoying a game of rook he had a good time. He loved people and cherished the friendships he made over the years. He felt life was a treasured gift from God and was meant to be enjoyed.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Lucien and Woods Broaddus, sister and brother-in-law LaVera and Bobby Adams, and daughter and son in law Mary Elizabeth and Deno Constantine.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen Broaddus, daughter Ashley (Steve) Himes, Grandchildren Rhett (Emma) Constantine, Chrissa Constantine (Dylan), Tristen Himes and Dawson Himes and two great-grand-children Atticus and Josie Constantine. His brother JT (Geneva) Broaddus and nephews Glenn Adams, Brad Adams and Lucien Clay Broaddus.

The family is appreciative of the wonderful care provided by his caregivers, Betty Fritz, Mary Rogers, Sherie Jackson, Linda Nevius and Jack Wollman.

A special thank you to Jimmy Neeley who for 4 years cared for Wayne as he would have his own father. Their relationship exceeded that of a caregiver and become one of a trusted friend or son.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home. Burial took place in the Lancaster Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Glenn Adams, Brad Adams, Lucien Clay Broaddus, Steve Himes, Dawson Himes, Jimmy Neeley and Perry Tussey.  Honorary Pallbearers were HR Saufley, George Saufley, Robbie Taylor, Calvin Duncan, Bobby Smith and Joan Tussey
