Hubert Fry, 86, of Berea passed away at St. Joseph Main in Lexington on January 3, 2024.
Hubert was the son of Robert and Ida (Wilder) Frye and born and raised in Gray. He graduated from Knox Central High School. He joined the Kentucky National Guard and then became active in the U.S. Army and spent 24 years of dedicated service, retiring as a Sergeant First Class in 1981 at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He moved to Berea in 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia, and five children: three sons, Owen of Wylie, Texas, Roger (Betsy) of Culpeper, Virginia, and Robert of Queen Creek, Arizona, two daughters, Joanne (Gary) Austin of Clarksville, Tennessee and Judith Fry of Berea. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Brian Fry, Amanda (Justin) Hawkins, Zoe, Zachary and Lily Fry and great-granddaughter Lenora Hawkins. Also surviving is a brother, David Frye of New Britain, Connecticut and several nieces and nephews. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dorman and Lee and sister Wilma Pearl Donnelly. As per his wishes, he was cremated with no service scheduled.
