James Arthur Turner, of Berea, who was born on August 17, 1941, in Madison County, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024.
Predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Ella Turner, and his cherished wife, Dorothy Adkins Turner, James's memory will be honored and kept alive by those he leaves behind. He is survived by his adoring children, Donnie (Melinda) Turner, and Jennifer (Luke) Unker. His presence will be sorely missed by his siblings Farley, Charles, Allen, and Alma Turner, who shared in the journey of his remarkable life.
James played a special role in the lives of his grandchildren, Andrew—who took exceptional care of him—Evan, Brittany, Thomas, Wyatt, Shelbie, and Cheyenne, all of whom will deeply miss their grandfather's warmth and wisdom. The light of his legacy will also shine on through his great-grandchildren, McKoy and Jaxon.
Retired from the City of Berea, James was a skilled carpenter and dedicated worker. His unwavering commitment to his family was evident in the loving care he provided for his late wife, Dorothy. James found a spiritual home and community at the Galilee Baptist Church, where he was a devoted member. He was an accomplished cook who took pleasure in preparing meals for his loved ones. His passion for the outdoors and precious family moments will be fondly remembered and deeply cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 21, 2024, 2pm, at Lakes Funeral Home. Pastor Roy Lee Abney officiated. Burial followed in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Donnie, Andrew, Evan, Junior, Luke, and Cameron. Honorary bearers were Jerry, and Billy.
