John Roland Cottrell, 80, of Berea died Friday, March 15, 2024, at Life Care Center Morehead. He was a Canton, Ohio native born December 26, 1943, son of the late John and Lue Ellen Brown Cottrell, retired general contractor, and member of the Pentecostal Faith. In his spare time John enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, and hunting.
Survivors include son John Randall “Duke” Cottrell (Ginger); daughter Patty Cheeks (Terry); brothers Steven Cottrell, Timothy Cottrell, Robert Cottrell: sister Lucinda Davis; grandchildren Jonna, Terry, Jaylinn, Brandon, Courtney; three great grandchildren Kellie, Katie, Amelia; as well as numerous children him and his late wife Rosa Lee raised as their own, including Paul Edward Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Rosa Lee Centers Cottrell; sister Dorcus Cottrell.
Funeral Service 11:00 AM Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Reppert Funeral Home with Pastor Greg King officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation 6:00 – 9:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be John “Duke” Cottrell, Brandon Cottrell, Jonathan Chiantaretto, Terry Ray Cheeks, Terry Joe Cheeks, Chris Mize.
