Joyce also leaves behind many friends across the many places she has lived.
Joyce’s early world revolved around family events, her church next door, and her school across the street. After high school, she was accepted into the Chicago Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She married her grade school soulmate in 1954, Lee W. Hubbard, and lived 61 years as an amazing Missionary journey serving in Henderson Settlement, Frakes, KY and the United Methodist Mountain Mission in Jackson, KY. Joyce was passionate about Micah 6:8, “What is good but to do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God.” One of her joys and memories was to have discovered her father’s Cornils relatives from Germany in 1975. Beginning in 1975 she and Lee enjoyed many visits between KY and Hamburg to share life with Eike.
Her husband, Lee, died peacefully on September 11, 2015. Joyce was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Kentucky for the Commonwealth, as well as several environmental organizations.
