Joyce Wilson Cox

Joyce Wilson Cox departed this lifetime on October 9th, lovingly surrounded by all her children at her Florida home. Born in Estill County, to Lewis and Jeanette (Winburn) Wilson, Joyce spent most of her adult life in Berea, and later, in Englewood, Florida. She was preceded in death by her two husbands: Coleman Cornelison and Levi Cox. Joyce is also survived by three siblings; Doris Gover, Sue Vonderbrink, and Lewis Wilson II.

Joyce was a loving mother to her four children; Beverly (Cornelison) McChesney (Jim), Ronald Cornelison (Yvonne), Tanya (Cornelison) Floyd, and Lori (Cornelison) Terry (Wallace). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Joyce loved and found joy in all the children she interacted with in life, whether family or not, and always was a safe haven to the friends of her children. The family also wishes to acknowledge Wanda Rush, for the wonderful care she provided Joyce in her last years.

A kind person to everyone she encountered, Joyce enriched the lives of her family, neighbors and friends. She was a long-time employee of Dresser Industries, a Kentucky Colonel, and a charitable member of several Baptist church locations.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were Wallace Terry, Jim McChesney, Dustin Cornelison, Chase Terry, Nick Wallhausser, Jeff Hall, Josh Thompson, Patrick Adams, and Dwight Gover.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Lakes Funeral Home. Burial was in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
