Larry Allen Prewitt

Mr. Larry Allen Prewitt, 70, of Newby, passed on Thursday evening, March 13, at the UK Hospital in Lexington surrounded by his family.

Larry was born in Madison County, on November 2, 1954, and was a retired electrician having most recently worked for Dixon Electric. Horseback riding, going fishing, or deer hunting were favorite pastimes and he looked forward to spending time with his family, especially if there was chocolate ice cream involved. Larry was a member of the Richmond House of Prayer.

Survivors include: his wife of almost 50 years, Shauneta Dozier Prewitt; his daughters, Brandy Benton (Chris) and Kelly Prewitt; his father, Buck Allen Prewitt (Carol); his grandchildren, Jessirae Prewitt (Quaezhon Charlton), Zeke Benton (Kate Knight) and Levi Benton; one great-grandchild, Quaezhon Charlton, Jr.; one brother, David Prewitt (Jamie); two sisters, Sharlene Evans (David), and Karen Allen (Frankie); a special nephew, Chris Prewitt (Nikki), and their children who lovingly called him “Uncle Groovy”, McCoy & Davis Prewitt; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Roberta Lackey Prewitt; and his grandson, Emanuel “Manny” Prewitt.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Big Hill Christian Church, 1150 Goggins Lane, Richmond, with Pastor Owen Moody officiating.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation starting at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the church.

The family would like to thank Big Hill Christian Church for opening their doors and allowing the service to be held there due to the weather damage at their home church.
