Mark Hannah Curtis III, 77, passed away on June 2, 2026, in Hernando, Florida. Born on May 24, 1949, Mark was a man who embraced life with vigor and joy.

He graduated from Madison Central High School in Madison, Kentucky, and pursued higher education at the University of Louisville before earning a Masters and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University. Mark dedicated his career to veterinary medicine, practicing in Kentucky, Florida, West Virginia, and Ohio, where he was respected and loved by both colleagues and the many animals he cared for.

Mark was also a proud Vietnam Era Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country with the same passion he applied to every aspect of his life.

Beyond his professional and military life, Mark was a true adventurer. His hobbies included skydiving, scuba diving, oil painting, hunting, archery, traveling, martial arts, and wind surfing. His motto, “Every day is a holiday and every meal a feast!” perfectly encapsulated his approach to life, always seeking to make the most of each moment.

He leaves behind his spouse, Amy Curtis; son, Andrew Curtis; stepchildren, Lindsey Lucas and Nathan Garner; step-grandchildren, Logan and Kayleigh Garner; step-great-granddaughters, Elaina and Einslee Garner; siblings, Juanita Hersom, Alice Adams (Deeb), Meredith, Roy (Luann), Candy Adkins (Tony), Robert Curtis (Elaine) , and Gwen Back (Mert) along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita Vass and Mark Hannah Curtis Jr., and his brother, Joseph Curtis.

Mark’s life was a testament to living boldly and loving deeply, touching the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
