Michael D. Hounshell, 59, passed away Friday, June 7th, 2024, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was born March 10th, 1965, in Berea, to the late Thomas Edgar and Sissie Ann Himes Hounshell. Michael told his family on Thursday he was going home to be with his mother. He loved to watch tv especially the Andy Griffith show, he enjoyed cooking and picking blackberries.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Naomi Ruth Hounshell.
Michael is survived by his brothers and sisters, Mary (Charles) Smith, of Berea, James (Juanita) Hounshell, of Berea, Roger (Betty) Hounshell, of Cartersville, Anita Hounshell, of Berea, Thomas (Louise) Hounshell, Berea, Glen ( Hope) Hounshell, of Cartersville, Gary (Tami) Hounshell, of Cartersville, and Teresa (Wayne) Biggs, of Waco. Several nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home. Rev. Stevie Robinson officiated. Burial followed in the Cartersville Cemetery. His nephews, Charles Smith, Jr., Glen Hounshell, Jr., Gary Hounshell, Jr., Matthew Hounshell, Timothy Hounshell, and Dakota Biggs served as pallbearers, the remaining nieces, and nephews serving as honorary pallbearers.
Davis and Powell Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.
